Awarded with Medal for Combat Merit to private driver Vasiliev Ivan Filatovich, On February 11, 1944, Born in 1907. Nationality  russian. In Red Army from 06.1941. Military rank Private in 340th Rifle Regiment of 46th Rifle Division.

 

The grouping concists of following items:

 

* Military Merit Medal:The medal is in good condition. Most details are well visible. Made of solid silver and weighs 23 gram. The medal comes complete with original ribbon sewn to a period made metal backplate with a pin back device to the reverse.

 

This is what we find in the Russian military archives about this medal:

 

“Private, driver Ivan Vasiliev for the fact that on February 11, 1944, during a battle on the Luga Godov highway, the Leningrad Region, when a convoy of cars was raided by an enemy group of up to 40 machine gunners from the rear, boldly and decisively, with a group of drivers, reflected attacking enemy, which contributed to the protection of 7 vehicles and ammunition. 2 enemy soldiers were destroyed by Ivan Vasiliev.”

Awarded with Medal for Courage to private gunner of a 120 mm mortar battery Vasiliev Ivan Filatovich, On January 21, 1945

 

The medal is in good used condition. Made of solid silver and weighs 31 gram. The medal comes complete with original ribbon sewn to a period made metal backplate with a pin back device to the reverse.

 

This is what we find in the archives about this medal:

 

“Private, gunner of a 120 mm mortar battery, Ivan Filatovich Vasilyev. When breaking through the enemy’s defense, north of the city of Pultusk (Poland), under artillery and mortar fire of the enemy — he fearlessly, quickly and accurately fired at enemy firing points. As a result, 2 light machine guns with personnel were destroyed and up to 12 meters of enemy trenches destroyed.”

 

*Medal for the Defense of Leningrad (Type 1), in very good condition with most of the gold colored wash still intact. The medal comes complete with original ribbon sewn to a period made metal backplate with a pin back device to the reverse.

 

* The Medal For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945” (Type 2) is in very good condition with most of the gold colored wash still intact  comes complete with original ribbon.
