Awarded to Kazakov Vladimir Stepanovich. Born in 1907, Nationality Russian. In Red Army from 06-1941. Military rank Private. Junior Medical of the 5th Mechanized Brigade, 2nd Mechanized Corps, 3rd Ukrainian Front.
The Order of the Patriotic War Established by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 20, 1942. The Order of the Patriotic War is awarded to individuals of the rank and file of the Red Army, Navy, NKVD troops and partisan detachments, who showed courage, stamina and courage in the battles for the Soviet Motherland, as well as military personnel who, through their actions, contributed to the success of the military operations of our troops.
Order of the Patriotic War 2’st class. Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. Total weight is about 27g without the silver disc. The maker mark Monetni Dvor is located at the 6 o’clock position underneath the screw and the serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position it reads “825628”
This is what we find in the Russian military archives about this order:
“On March 21, 1945, during the offensive in the area of the city of Tata / Hungary / he was seriously wounded by a fragment of a mine in his left leg. As a result of injury, the leg was amputated. A disabled person of the III degree of World War II
Was also rewarded with Medal Combat Merit and Medal For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945.”
Award to a brave Medical Soldier, he lost his leg but survived the war!!
