Frank J.Bagdon saw service Korea with the 40th Infantry Division.In Korea, the 40th Infantry Division participated in the battles of Sandbag Castle and Heartbreak Ridge. In these campaigns, the division suffered 1,180 casualties, including 311 who were killed in action, and 47 who later died from wounds received in action. Total division casualties in Korea included 376 killed in action, 1,457 wounded in action, and 47 dead of wounds.
The grouping concists of following items:
Long sleeve summer shirt made of brushed cotton. Five button front with lay down button collar with two breast pockets with button flaps. Button shoulder straps and two button cuffs. A shoulder flash representing the 40th Infantry Division is to the left arm and also a Korea badge. Above the left there is a Combat Infantry Badge, two Place ribbon bar with a US Army Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service medal for Korea and a US Parachutist Badge.
Also included in the grouping are two regular size Combat Infantryman Badges and one miniature Combat Infantryman Badge. Three boxed medals, United Nations Service medal for Korea, US Army Korean Service Medal andUS National Defense Medal. A US Parachutist Badge with missing pin, two shoulder flashes for the 40th Infantry Division and a two Place ribbon bar.
The Group comes with the certificate for the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, issued to Private Frank J.Bagdon the 11th January 1952. And over 150 Pictures from the Korean War, some really gruesome,viewer discretion is advised!!!
Also included is a large photo of this soldiers unit and a mapsheet from Kumsong SW, Korea.
