WWI M1912 US Infantry Combat Tunic

A high quality olive drab M1912 wool whipcord tunic, with a stand-up collar fastened by two hooks and eyes. The four front patch pockets have button down scalloped flaps. The five large front closure buttons, and the four small pocket and two small shoulder strap buttons are all embossed with an American eagle. To the right side of the stand-up collar is a bronze disk with “U.S.” embossed. It is mounted to its reverse by a screw-back post. To the left side of the collar is a disk in the same material and dimensions, upon which is embossed the insignia for Infantry. Sewn to the left arm below the shoulder seam is a red chevron ihand sewn in place which indicates one year of overseas service. Inside is fully lined with mouse-grey brushed cotton.
The tunic shows signs of age and use. Napwear to all exposed parts and some soiling from use and storage to the exterior. No holes, rips or mendings to the exterior. Inside lower right sleeve has a hole to the lining (see pictures). All in all good, used condition especielly when consider this tunic is over 100years old.
The tunic comes with a side cap made of olive drab wool. Inside has a sweatband made of cotton machine sewn in place. To the side of the fold up front side is a sewn hole to attached the unit insignia. The insignia is missing on this example, but rather easy to find.
It’s getting harder and harder to find WW1 combat tunics in this well preserved condition!!
